Fashion-ista Challenge on Getting Cricky.com - feeling glamorous.

This challenge was too cute to pass up! - Fashion-ista, how fun.  The contest is open until July 23rd at midnight - check it out here at Getting Cricky, com.  Picture totally doesnt highlight the glitter glasses, letters or the bling on the bottom :(

Mixed Media _Week 2_Love

Kids are still on vacation with their dad.  Sammy is out swimming over a friends house, Dan and Dillan are at a race in OH - So I am home alone - and that typically equates to getting messy!

Week 2 in the Mixed media class with Shirley Pando over at My Creative Classroom, is about paper collage on canvas.  More fun stuff, If you have never taken a class I just love them over there - you should try it - they have great teachers, and the classes rotate - so if you missed one - hang on it will be around again.

I used up some papers I got off a swap table - Little Yellow Bucycle - Love letters collection, some paint and some perfect pearls.... this is my end result, hope you like...

Climb & class project week 1

I am multi-tasking... I am participating in another class at My Creative Classroom, This one is Exploring Mixed Media by Shirley Pando.  Week one is creating with fabric - totally out of my comfort zone, and I had NO idea what I was going to make - Then I received my July email from Ali Edwards and my One Little Word project.  A-HA! - It is not the prompt of the month, but I knew I wanted to use my word "Climb" and I wanted to use that great tree svg (I mentioned in previous posts) from Charity Adams and her Woodland Bunny svg collection.

So, putting all of that together - I translated the word climb into about 15 different languages, and printed it on cardstock. (although you cant really see that after I cut the Tree out of that paper, but I know it is there).  I dyed a white on white piece of fabric with alcohol inks, sewed on the black burlap, added the tree I cut and then covered in glossy accents, after I mildly inked some edges.  I added the butterfly (home-made beaded antennae), climb letter stickers in a Tim Holtz bracket, some matching alcohol ink dyed lace ribbon, OH! and the flowers I made from ribbon and medium sticky dots (pretty easy - twist and stick).

I love this project!

Megan Graduation

Congratulations, Megan (my niece) She graduated from Quigley HS and moving o to Kent State - so proud of her.  I made a card using Everyday Paper Dolls in her school colors, and attached it to the card  The candy is chocolate covered pretzels and marshmallows with sprinkles, and box id decorated with paper I also cut from cricut (scal - a grad cap and the words"class of 2011").  I cut it on the opposite edges of a 12x12 paper so that I could then attach it to a box and add some fiskars cut borders on the bottom - Congrats Megan!  (I will fix that bottom edge of the box before I bring it to the party :))

Happy Easter (in July)

Charity Adams of Adams Acres sent us the Woodland Bunny svg file.  (You can see the entire file by going to Die Cut Designer (here)).  So I am  for the first time ever ahead of the game, and have a jumpstart on my Easter decorations.  I created the basket decorations below - they are created with We Are Memory Keepers' Tiffanys paper collection, some random papers, ribbons and tapes for the borders, and some extra springy stickles bling.  The set also has a great tree that I will post later and will make a great piece for halloween or winter layouts as well.

July 4th (List It! Challenge)

I just want to say a very happy (belated) Happy Freedom Day.  I am so thankful for the sons and daughters, moms and dads that put themself in the face of fear to protect us back home in America.  Thank you!
We spent the fourth with family and friends, and of course fireworks!
