The Cut Shoppe Design Team Call

Now that Sammy is driving and pretty much on her own, I figure it is time to get back to scrapbooks.  A. to keep me busy, and B. to help me not think about my last little peanut moving on...  Maybe it was a sign, when this little image popped up on my Instagram and email in-box.

Why not try right? I love her cut files.
So I got to work and I am submitting these three projects below.  It was a great boost for me to get started on Sam's cheer book for this season, and I completed 2 layouts for her general book, and a card.  Yay me!  If you also need a boost to get back to it - try submitting for the team as well, you have nothing to loose and three new projects finished to gain :)

This last project was particularly fun.  I used the Friends Forever cut file. (found here).  My LO is 8.5" x 6.5" for my Echo Park  mini pocket book.

To create the same look follow these simple steps:

1. Set your Silhouette page to 8.5 x 11 (or larger if your printer will fit 12x12)
2. Create a rectangle the same size as your layout.
3. Fill the "LO rectangle" with the words and symbols from the cut file (the one above or any wordy cut file, I have used song lyrics in the past, anything goes).
4. Create a 2nd "larger rectangle" behind your layout design.  Fill this "larger rectangle" with your pattern, gradient, whatever you like.
5. Copy that "larger filled rectangle" to a second page, you are going to need to print this twice. One copy will be your background.
6. The second copy will go back on your cut mat, make sure you align the page to your top left, where it is located on the mat. - you can delete the "larger background" before you cut - no need to cut that extra rectangle.  Then go ahead and cut the page with the "LO rectangle" filled with your words inside.
7. Lay the cut page on top of the other gradient page and embellish like you want!

My other two layouts I submitted used watercolors on a larger cut file, and my card I print and cut some digi files.  I loved my weekend getting crafty.

Having fun Hybrid style

I discovered an amazing digital art creator over at TheDigitalPress.com.  Julia Makotinsky.  Her designs are so fun, colorful, bright, I love them.
I wanted to send some Thank you cards for my recent birthday & girls trip.  I used my silhouette to print and cut these, but any fussy cut scissoring will work.  Used some double-sided puffy tape to add dimension and layers.  Finished off with some Diamond Stickles - and wahlah!  love them!.

Kits I used were Just Be You, Summer Fun, Summer fun clusters & Beach Sketchbook.

PS the ones with photos are even more special to the recipient!
